About Dr. Ashok Kumar
Dr. Ashok Kumar PS is a renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery. With over 20 years of experience, he has performed thousands of successful surgeries using the latest advancements in robotics and navigation.
Dr. Kumar is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through minimally invasive techniques and personalized care plans. His expertise spans hip and knee replacements, complex revision surgeries, and arthroscopic procedures.
Studied medicine at the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Completed his Masters in Orthopaedics from Sri Ramachandra Medical University in 2006 under able guidance of Prof. SSK Marthandam.
He completed his Arthroplasty & Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship from Dr. P Suryanarayan’s Unit, subsequently in 2013 he has become a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
Currently he is a Consultant at Asian Joint Reconstruction Institute (AJRI), SIMS Hospital, Chennai from 2014.
He and his team are the first unit to perform ROBOTIC ASSISTED TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT in Tamil Nadu in December 2018.
He has obtained proficiency in Navigation Assisted Total Knee Replacement in Hospital Joseph Ducuing, Toulouse, France. He has specialized in COMPUTER ASSISTED SURGERIES (NAVIGATION) in Total Knee Replacement, management of periprosthetic joint infection, Partial / Unicondylar knee replacement.
He has acquired a special skill in Cementing technique in hip arthroplasty at PRINCESS ELIZABETH ORTHOPAEDIC CENTRE of the ROYAL DEVON AND EXETER HOSPITAL, UK.
He has experience in managing geriatric (elderly) hip fractures.
He is in charge of Fellowship Program of AJRI and South Indian arthroplasty Academy
